Speak

"Art without emotion is like chocolate cake without sugar. It makes you gag. The next time you work on your trees, don't think about trees. Think about love, or hate, or joy, or pain- whatever makes you feel something, makes your palms sweat, or your toes curl. Focus on that feeling. When people don't express themselves, they die on piece at a time." -Speak

Rescue Mission

So I was happy with how my monochromatic painting looked, which was nice because I have really never painted before. Then came inking and retouching... It didn't go quite as well unfortunatley. Drawing with color to create an entire drawing was one thing but I really didn't know how to go about retouching my already painted picture. I wanted to stylize it but had absolutely no idea how to. So I winged it and my face turned it an unpleasant array of streaky purples. In an attempt to somewhat rescue it I had to layer over everything with black which helped alot but it still isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I think for my real portrait I am going to attempt to create more subtle retouching that enhances my picture and doesn't take it over. But I was happy with how my eye came out, now i just need to make the rest of it look good too.
